Private Home in Worli
Mumbai, India
2023

Elevated high amongst the burgeoning Mumbai skyline, this spacious apartment is a reflection of the aspiration and values of the family for whom it was made. A reimagined plan combines two apartments into one connected by the family kitchen and a generous passage. At one end lies the private spaces of the master suite, children’s bedrooms, and whimsical play space while the western sea facing wing of the house contains the public spaces of the living, dining, family room, and a guest suite for visiting grandparents and close family friends.

The material palette is understated and tasteful allowing the furniture and art collection to provide splashes of energy through color. White terrazzo floors sprinkled with black and gray mosaic in the public spaces curve slightly as they meet the walls, merging seamlessly with the mottled texture, separated only by a sinuous brass band. In the private spaces, wide planks of lightly smoked oak provide a warm base to each room gently complimenting the soft ensemble of carpets, upholstery, and bed linens.

Sculptural lighting fixtures by Michael Anastassiades, Patricia Urquiola, and Casegoods compliment vintage pieces to gently illuminate each space of the home. Furnished with elements brought from their previous home and integrated infusions of new bespoke and sourced pieces, the home is the result of countless hours of collaboration with skilled artisans and the family themselves.
