Second Home on Malabar Hill
Mumbai, India
2015 – 2016
Designed for an extended family in Mumbai, this small sea facing two-bedroom apartment will be used as a home away from home. It is a place to host out of town guests, friends, family and the occasional social gathering.
The intimate scale of the spaces allows attentive focus on the details and surfaces while the lightly textured gray walls provide a soft background for the richness of materials and subtlety of finish. The central space, framed with thin brass trim and old Burma teak planks has an inlaid terrazzo floor made with Makrana marble tiles and chips. Custom made rosewood and brass handles open doors leading to the spaces beyond.
The home is furnished with a combination of bespoke hand crafted and carefully curated found pieces to create an inviting but quiet respite from the surrounding city.
